Lauren Ferriera

Laura Ferreira is a photographer from Trinidad and Tobago who specializes in conceptual portraiture, fashion, and commercial photography, as well as digital art. I particularly like Ferreira's work because her shoots are just how I would like my shoots to be with the themes and makeup etc. I believe her final images always look very interesting and her unusual themes always engage me. The composition of the diamonds on her face work very effectively as they are not over used, if they were stuck all over the models face then I think the image would be very off putting because there would be too much going on. Laura Ferriera has used a popular depth of field where the focus is just on the face. The photographer might have done this because the models face is the main subject in this photo. It is obvious that the main colour being used in this image is blue. The colour chosen makes the atmosphere very cold and dingy, therefore the theme that the photographer may be trying to portray is winter because on my next slide there is a picture where the main colour is red and this could be to do with heat and fire. The glitter on the models face makes her look like she is frozen, her facial expression also fits in perfectly with this as her mouth is open slightly and when you are cold that is normally what you do. Her had is also tilted slightly to the left which seems to me that her head may be to heavy because it is frozen. Laura Ferriera is definitely my favourite artist that I have researched so far; I just think her images and themes fit in perfectly with what I want to do with my final images. Due to this I will be trying shoots that are inspired by her work. First of all I will just attempt to try a certain part of the body makeup, after I've done one then I will develop that shoot and hopefully the final shoot I take will involve heavy makeup and diamond accessories and will be good enough to be a final Image.
