Photography Coursework
Photoshoot 10
After looking over all of my previous slow shutter speed shoots, I have decided that I would like to do a shoot that includes a lot more light. Because of this I thought really hard about what type of costume I was going to dress my model in. I came to the conclusion that dressing her in something that had a lot of detail on would be best because the accessories such as sequins would catch the light and therefore make the images more interesting. To create a bright light I used one studio light that was focused directly on my model. I found it was better if I turned all of the main lights off because this way the photographs from this shoot showed the same amount of light. This however did create a shadow but I think it works well because it looks as if there is even more movement in the images. I like the colour of the costume my subject is wearing, I think because it is so bright it contrasts with the plain light. Overall, I think this shoot has been successful and I also enjoyed doing it.
Image Analysis
I like the fact how my models composition is not central in this photograph, It is different from my other successful images which shows that my work is varied and makes my portfolio more interesting. I also like how you cant clearly see any of my models features. Her head movement has been that fast that you are unaware of what is actually happening in the photo. She just looks like a blur. The light has caught the sequins very effectively in this image, you can tell because they are shimmering. I think that detail breaks the photo up and makes it look more aesthetically pleasing.
Image Analysis
This image is also not central, which is one of the things that I like about it. In this photo it looks as if I have overlayed two of the images from this shoot because the positioning of my model is the same but her head is in different directions. Therefore it looks as if she has been multiplied. The light is also very bright in this image just like I wanted it to be. I cropped the image so that you couldn’t see any of the floor or anything else that would take away the audiences attraction from the actual image. The costume my subject is wearing resembles a disco ball because of how much light it is giving off in this image. If I were to do this shoot again I think I would vary the angle of the camera so that every photo looked like it was from a different shoot. I think this would be interesting and would further develop my coursework portfolio.
