Photography Coursework
Photoshoot 7
For my 11th photoshoot I have still carried on using slow shutter speed techniques with the camera. I think these specific images make my personal investigation look more mature, then simple portrait photographs. In this shoot I have dressed my model in one of my old dancing costumes, I chose this costume because it has lots of interesting elements to it. It is a two piece costume but it is joined by a long piece of silk. This silk can be used in many ways and I have took advantage of this in my shoot. I have got my model to pose in different ways so that the silk moves freely and then I was able to capture this movement. MY model just wore her hair down so that also moved with the silk, from this I got a combination of movement from my subjects hair and the costume. This worked well because my aim throughout this project is to capture as much movement as I possibly can. I changed the shutter speed timing from what I usually use to get these images. This has worked well this time because my images look different from my previous ones which makes my project varied. Unfortunately I didnt get as much images as I would have liked to for this shoot as my model was ill. Therefore what I did get was more time consuming because she needed a few breaks from jumping and spinning around. There was also a few problems with the camera that I was using. The lense had something stuck inside it so my imahes were going very blurred.
Image Analysis
Although I have been taking slow shutter speed images alot in my previous shoot, i think this one looks slightly different to the others. With this image I made the shutter speed slower than usual but not too slow because I wanted to be able to still see the movement. i specifically like how you can only really see one of the model where as in my other shoots there is always a few shadows. With this effect it allows the audience to focus purely on the movement of the one model. The costume she is wearing fits in well with the camera techniques that I used because it has alot of different sections to it, which allows my subject to pose differently in each photo. In this photo she is holding the silky part of the costume, this makes the costume look like it is moving more than it actually is. The lighting in the photo is focused on the subject so that her features are highlighted. I think the black background could have been thought about a little more. I think it works but white might work better because it would have brought out the colour of the subjects costume more. I think if i had placed my model on a white background then the sparkles would be more clearly seen.
