Photoshoot 8

For my 12th photoshoot I decided to carry on with the slow shutter speed technique, as I really enjoy taking these images and I think that the final outcomes look well as just individual prints. I think they have alot of story behind them which attracts different audiences. With this shoot I have took normal photos as well as incorporating coloured gels. I thought this made my shoot more interesting as I just had the same aim as my previous shoots. I chose to dress my model in a simple black dress, the dress has a few layers so that when my model moved so did the layers of the dress. I think wearing something like this is compelling because you are able to see the movement more clearly. This showed in this shoot as well. Throughout the full shoot I just basically got my model to move and jump about why I took slow shutter speed images. For me working spontaneously works well because I never know what to expect with the outcome and that is exactly what slow shutter speed  photography is about, so it works well with my technique. However, I do believe there is only so many different poses and photos you can take when using slow shutter speed and sometimes it doesnt work as well as I would have hoped it to. This is why I decided to use the coloured gels. Upon looking at the contact sheets those selected photos immediately stand out as they they are vibrant and unusual. Coloured gels are very easy to use. You simply just place the gel infront of the camera lens or they flash, for my photos I put them directly infront of the camera lens so that I got a more solid colour. Overall, I think this shoot has been successful.

Image Analysis

I think out of all of the shoots I have done using slow shutter speed techniques so far, this is the most unusual one. This is due to the colour that the final image is. I think this colour is rather strange and makes my model look slightly like a ghost because non of her body is really in full focus. If you look at her features (hands and legs) it looks as if she has more than two, this is from where she has moved quickly. Her movement has caused a rainbow light, which I think looks very interesting because it brightens the image up as it is quite bland. I think this light contrasts with my models outfit, due to the fact that the dress she is wearing is just black and plain. I like the composition of my model in this photo because it is very different from the composition in other photos that I have taken. I specifically like the way that her hair is floating because it covers her face and then makes her look distorted. I also like how the little diamonds on her dress are sparkling, the outfit that I chose worked well with this shoot because you can tell that my model is moving when you look at the layers of the dress. They are all make diffrent shapes, which is why I chose something with more than one layer. I positioned my model infront of a plain white background so that the audience could tell that she is the subject of the photoshoot. I also did this because of the outfit she is wearing, because it is black the white background makes her stand out.  If i were to do this shoot again I would plan the background more effectively. I wouldnt chose a different colour because I think the white works well , but I could only find one white background which was slightly dirty.

Image Analysis
In this photo it looks like there is two people doing the same movement but in opposite directions. However, one of them is only slightly in full focus. The other silhouette behind the body that is in focus, looks just like a shadow, as the colour isnt as vibrant. The movement has created a rainbow light, just as it did in the previous photo. I think it adds more effect to this image than the previous one because the composition of this image is alot more simple than the other one so you can see the colour more clearly. The outfit has worked well again for this image, because the layers flow in different ways. If I were to do this photoshoot again I would plan my models compositions before i actually took the images. This way I would be able to make sure i had a range of different positions so that every photo took was different to my other shoots. It would then open my options to edits and photoshop tutorials because different tutorials fit some photos better than others.
