Photoshoot 2
This photo-shoot was again very simple, but that is exactly how I wanted this shoot to be. I took these photos simply to overlay and edit them. Throughout the shoot I had my model positioned is various ways so that I had different angles of her body to overlay. I have now actually done a few edits with these photos and they are shown on the 'photo edits' drop down page under 'contact sheets'. I think taking these photos was very useful, as they are plain so that they work well when being edited. Where as if I overlay themed images I think that would be too much, unless it had a purpose. The lighting differs in each photo which is something that needs improving. In some of the images the light is perfect and the shadows are exactly where I wanted them to be. Due to the fact that the composition of my model changes in every image, it is obvious that the shadows are going to be in different places. But in some cases the full image is too dark which spoils the photo, therefore i am unable to use that image for my edits. All of the models movements are very simple, i think the more effective ones are where she isnt looking directly at the camera. The one where my models body is facing the side and her head is slightly tilted to the ceiling is my favourite. I just think it is unique compared to the rest of the photographs so it stands out. I focused mainly on the models head and shoulders, purely because i am doing portrait and the head is the main thing i will be shooting in all of my photoshoots. It also makes it easier when i come to editing the selected photos. Unless i wanted to do a big theme which was a full body shoot, i will be just focusing on my models head and face. I think next time i want to do a 'natural' photoshoot i should think more about my my model wears because eventhough i wanted it to be very simple i still think what she is wearing does not fit in. Next time i will have my model dressed in a plain vest/bandeau so that she can just take the straps down easily. This way nothing will be distracting the audience from the theme of the photo.
Image Analysis
Alberto Seveso is one of my favourite artists that I have researched so far, which is why I thought to try his techniques. To get this final outcome I just used a photo that I already had and found one of Albertos smoke pictures and then simply just overlaid them together. This image is very similar to the last edit in the fact that the smoke is taken from the same artist and the main image is from the same shoot. However the composition and overlay of both images is very different. Even though this shoot wasn’t made to fit this edit I still think it works very well. The models clothes go better in this image than the next one. This maybe due to the fact that the smoke is mainly overlaid onto the models head rather than the full body so the top isn’t clashing with the artwork. I liked the composition in this image better than the last edit because I think it is more emphatic. On the other hand I don’t think the colours are as dynamic than they are in the other one so this doesn’t catch your attention as much. With this edit I think I could have been neater with the techniques I have used. For example where I have brushed around the smoke I have not got as close the actual photo as i could have so you can see a little bit of the original image. The same thing applies to my photo, where I have rubbed the background out you can see where the brush has been and the edges aren’t as smooth as they could be.
Image Analysis
This image is very similar to the last edit in the fact that the smoke is taken from the same artist and the main image is from the same shoot. However the composition and overlay of both images is very different.I like the overall effect of the edit. However, the shoot was not specifically made for this edit so everything does not fit in with the theme, for example the stripy top. The colour of the top was blue so that did fit in with the art work but this wasn’t though of in depth. The composition of my model, however has worked well with the shape of the smoke. The smoke gets thinner the further it gets to the top of the page, to make this look effective I rotated the art work and positioned so it was blended in with the thinnest part of my models body which happened to be her head. The colours used are very unique, as you would just expect to see grey smoke; this makes the edit more interesting. My own image is converted into black and white so the smoke image is more highlighted. The blue and purple work well blended together and even though my image is made up of blacks and whites the smoke makes the overall image look vibrant.
Image Analysis
With this photograph I simply overlayed a picture of trees over the top of one of my own images and this is the final outcome. As this shoot was only my second the imageddfs still arent very advanced, although they are in focus and they do serve th purpose of what I was aiming for, therefore it was successful at the time. To make this edit I first of all found a high exposure images of some autumn trees on google images. To make sure I found clear photo I refined my search, I made the size of the image as big as it could be, this way when I stretched the image over my own it would not go distorted. I then opened my image into photoshop and dragged the image of the trees ontop, I rotated the image so that the best parts were shown. After the position was correct I then changed the opacity you of my image so that you could see the other image clearly. I think this has been effective because the colours from the tree picture have reflected into my own image making it look pink and red. This gives of a really autumny tone and atmosphere. I think the positioning of my model fits in very nicely with the secondary photo (tree), as she is looking up and when you look at trees this is exactly what you do as trees are very tall. It is also more interesting that a normal head and shoulders fportrait where the model is just looking straight and the camera. I think the lighting has been successful in the fact that the image is more colourful on the models face and as you go down her body the background image gets harder to make out. If i was to do this edit again I would make sure the model was wearing something appropriate. As this was just experimentation I didnt think about everything that would be included in the photo so it was just a case of shooting what the model was wearing on that day. So next time I would have her dressed in something plain so that you could see the texture of the trees and leaves clearly.
