Photoshoot 5

With this shoot i have tried to concentrate just on the model and her clothing. This still links into my previosu shoots as I have focused on producing just portrait shoots. However, you could say that landscapes are included in this shoot as the images are taken outdoors instead of in a studio with the spotlights. This is something I like with this shoot because the full image is interesting to look at rather than just the models head and shoulders. To capture these images, I went to Hartlepools industrial estate which is a run down area filled with graffiti and litter. There are a few little buildings there still, however some of them are half knocked down. You will see different areas of this estate throughout the photoshoot, as I have positioned my model in different places so that I could include as much of the scenary as possible. I chose to go to this specific area of town because I think that it contrasts with my models outfit. She is wearing her prom dress which is very elegant and classy where as the landscape is very delapodated. In a way the dress goes with the estate as it is black and alot of the things that I found there were all dark shades. I planned this outfit before doing the shoot so that it would work effectively. If my model were to be dressed im a bright pink dress I think it would take the subject matter away from the photoshoot, consequently it wouldnt be as emphatic. The time of the day was perfect for the theme of this shoot, as the sun was shining so the lighting in the images was successfull. I used different depth of fields each time I took a photo so that each image is different from the previous one. This way the shoot continues to be exciting. I would definately like to do a shoot similar to this one because I like the fact that landscapes are also included as well as portrait.

Image Analysis
This is a photograph which I think has been one of the most successful in this shoot, in terms of depth of field. I have focused purely on my model and her full body due to the fact that my project is based around portrait photography. The things that are closer to the camera lense are the most in focus and the trees in the background are slightly blured out. I didnt want the background to be to out of focus because I wanted the audience to be able to see what was going on around my model and what type of place she was at. For this shoot I decided to keep my model quite natural instead of having her facepainted, purely for the fact that it is unrealisitic to be in a run down area dressed as a character or animal. I wanted this shoot to be different from my previous ones so it would have been defeating the object if I used the same techniques. I like that my model is facing the side with just her head facing the camera instead of her full body. She is holding a layer of her dress up with shows of the shape of her body off as her dress just falls straight down. Her other hand is holding the top of her arm. This position makes the photo look like fashion photography, which is what I was trying to gain. The light around her gives off a warm atmosphere and creates quite a relaxed feeling. You can see the light from the sun shining on the back of her head, this makes her hair glow around the edges. She has a slight smile of her face with suggests that she is surronded by the warm atmosphere. Overall i think this photoshoot has been successful and I would like to continue create images like this one. I will carry on using the outdoor areas and maybe try one fashion photography shoot in the studio where I can used the spot lights to add light and dark shadows.

Image Analysis

I have chosen to display this photo as one of the most successful ones from this specific shoot, as I think the angle of the photo is very engaging. I decided to take a different approach and instead of standing straight in front of my model taking just a simple photo, I followed the shape of the fence and then had her position further away from the camera. The depth of field also works well with the composition of this image because only the models and a selected area of the fence is in focus. This therefore doesnt take the distraction of the subject matter and keeps the audiences concentration on what the model is doing. In terms of the lighting, I particularly like how the sun is shining through the fence onto the models hair, so the shape indented in the fence is refelcting onto the model.

Image Analysis
To get this photo to look like this I used some editing techniques. Obviously my focus is on portrait photography so I chose to edit this particular photo in a way that photographers might edit there portrait images. With this shoot I tried to incorporate fashion photography and from my experience with fashion photography images it is clear that they airbrush and edit their models face and skin. So I thought it would fit in well for me to try and edit my own fashion photography image in the same way. I chose this photo because it is a close up of my model, therefore when I edited it it would be much more clear than it would have been if i was to pick a photo that was shot from a distance. The depth of field has been succeessful in this image, due to the fact that the background is slightly blurred compared to the subject. This, again works well with the type of edit that I have demonstrated. To get this outcome, I first of all zoomed into my photo on photoshop so that I didnt miss out any section of my image. I then created another layer of the same image and blurred it out. After doing that, I then went back to the original layer and chose the rubber tool and started to rub out sections of my models skin that I wanted to airbrush. Next, I went onto the internet and found some eyelashes that I could put onto my model just to make her eyes stand out more. When I put them on, I then had to chose how dark/light that I wanted them and position them exactly on her eyelids, so that it look as natural as it possibly could. Lastly, I decided that I wanted to make my models lips pinker, so I chose a colour that I thought would blend in best with her skin tone and very carefully coloured her lips in. In my opinion this edited has been very successful because it is now evident that this is a portrait fasion photography image and all of the subjects main features stand out clearly.
