3rd Photoshoot

This was my 3rd shoot of this project and I think so far this is my strongest shoot. Johannes Stotter inspired this particular shoot. It is just a simple copy of her work as I have only painted the side of my models face with tiger print using face paint. I would like to do a shoot inspired by her again but paint more of my subject’s body and maybe even try a different animal. This was just an experiment for future reference. In future I would like to try and paint my models full body and get them into the position that that specific animal does. However this will be very time consuming and will involve all of patients, the body paint will have to be perfect as well. Therefore this will be something that I look at for a final image. It will also be hard for me to find a model that is willing to have their full body painted. In this photoshoot it took me a while to get the lighting right as it was either too light or too dark. I didnt want the photos to be as light as the previous photos because it didnt fit in with the theme. So with this in mind I used a black background and a normal light. The black background made the photos look darker when infact they are just the same. I wanted this because i think tigers are quite sly animals and they can be dangerous therefore a bright like would not fit in with their personality. I focused more on the portrait side rather than the actual animal as it is just a trial run. When i do the full body paint photos i will definitely look at how that animal moves and acts so i can portray it in the images. In some of the images i got my model to growl and roar which is what tigers do but most of them are focused on the face paint.

Image Analysis
This image was inspired by Johannes Stotter, but I made it different by editing a tiger face in instead of painting in on her face. With this I found a high-resolution image of a tiger and them overlaid it onto one of my images from the 'natural' photo-shoot and then used the rubber tool to rub out the other half of the tiger face. The depth of field is on the models whole face including the edited tiger. When I took this photo I used the flash so that the final image was very bright and up beat. The fact that my model is wearing eyeliner fits in well with the tiger’s pattern, as the eyeliner is quite thick and black just like the tigers stripes. Her top is also stripy but not black and white. This was due to the fact that this edit was and experiment, so the photo I used wasn’t taken specifically for this edit. Therefore not everything is perfect such as the clothing the model is wearing. I think overall the edit has been successful and fits in well with Johannes Stotters work. However I think it will work well when it is planned so that everything fits in with the theme of the animal.

Image Analysis
This shoot was also inspired by Johannes Stotter but this time I actually drew the tiger stripes on my models face with face paints. I like the composition of the models face because she isn’t just looking straight ahead at the camera, which is very popular in portrait photos. She is positioned in a way that makes her look like she is focusing on something, in this context it could be the tigers pray or a predator. Her facial expression fits in well with the animal she is dressed as, as tigers are very serious and sly. The black back ground also blends in well with how the theme, the models black lipstick and black stripes bring out the orange tones that are involved in this final image, this is a positive of the final outcome because tigers main colours is orange. I think the over all edit is very effective, this is because it gives off a very warm feel to it and the brightness and contrast is quite low. To improve this photo-shoot I would add more detail to the models face and take my time so that the body paint is very neat and good enough to be used as a final image. I will also paint on the models neck and arms so that the theme is full portrayed through her entire body, this would make the final image more life like.
